Το Γενικό Λύκειο Καλλιμασιάς μαζί με άλλα πέντε σχολεία από τη Μεγάλη Βρετανία, Ιταλία, Ισπανία, Πολωνία και Τουρκία, συμμετέχει στο διετές (2009–2011) ευρωπαϊκό πρόγραμμα Comenius με θέμα «Μόδα και παράδοση». Αναμφισβήτητα η ενδυμασία υπήρξε πάντοτε ένα βασικό πολιτισμικό στοιχείο κάθε κοινωνίας, ως μέσο αυτοέκφρασης αποκαλύπτει πτυχές της προσωπικότητας, του πολιτισμού και της κοινωνικής τάξης των ανθρώπων.

Ένδυμα και μόδα, αχώριστοι συνοδοιπόροι στην ιστορία των ανθρωπίνων κοινωνιών προκάλεσαν το ενδιαφέρον εκπαιδευτικών και μαθητών για μια σε βάθος χρόνου ματιά μέσα από τις διαφορετικές πολιτισμικές καταβολές των χωρών που συνεργαστήκαμε.

Στα πλαίσια του προγράμματος αυτού πραγματοποιήθηκαν έξι πολύ ενδιαφέρουσες συναντήσεις με τη συμμετοχή εκπαιδευτικών και μαθητών ( Vall d’ Alba – Ισπανία, προκαταρκτική συνάντηση για τη διαμόρφωση του πλαισίου λειτουργίας του προγράμματος, Nun Eaton – Μεγάλη Βρετανία, μαθητικός διαγωνισμός λογότυπου για το πρόγραμμα και επίδειξη παραδοσιακών στολών, Milanowek – Πολωνία, η ενδυμασία των ανθρώπων της εξουσίας, Ιταλία – Vibo Valentia, οι υποκουλτούρες στη μόδα, Ελλάδα – Χίος, Η μόδα στον αθλητισμό και Γαμήλια έθιμα και παραδόσεις, Τουρκία – Istanbul, οι παραδοσιακοί χοροί και η σημασία τους).

Η συνεργασία με τα σχολεία για την παραγωγή εκπαιδευτικού υλικού και οι συναντήσεις στις διαφορετικές χώρες μας έδωσε τη δυνατότητα να γνωρίσουμε καλύτερα το εκπαιδευτικό σύστημα και την κουλτούρα των άλλων εταίρων μας και να δημιουργήσουμε δεσμούς φιλίας μεταξύ εκπαιδευτικών αλλά και των μαθητών που συμμετείχαν στο πρόγραμμα, συμβάλλοντας με αυτόν τον τρόπο στη διαμόρφωση της ευρωπαϊκής συνείδησης.

The General Senior High School of Kallimasia along with five other schools from Britain, Italy, Spain, Poland and Turkey participates in the biennial European Comenius project "Fashion and Tradition." (2009 - 2011). Undoubtedly, attire has always been a key cultural element of any society, a kind of cultural expression as an externalization of man's inner world. Furthermore, an element of the culture of each era and each nation is the aesthetics that is being expressed to a great degree by the options regarding the appearance of a person. As an extension and depiction of the human body, clothes indicate the particular aesthetics of a nation or of individuals, a country's climatic conditions and a society's values and tradition, as well as social stratification, since social classes often use their distinctive type of clothing to differentiate from others..

Fashion is associated with continuous innovation, with the destruction of the old and the creation of the new. A key feature of fashion is to impose as a new rule what was until yesterday the exception and to reject it again, when it becomes common. At the same time, fashion is identified with the promotion of individuality through discrimination as well as with uniformity through imitation. Fashion enables self-expression and reveals aspects of people's personality, culture and social class. However, making assumptions on a person's personality on the basis of their garment is neither easy nor safe, because of the temporal duration and multiplicity of fashion. Not infrequently, clothing demonstrates incorporation within a group and guidance of behavior, mainly through costumes (military and professional) along with a general formalisation of clothing for special occasions, such as weddings, funerals and other ceremonies.

Attire and Fashion, inseparable companions in the historical tradition of human societies, led teachers and students to be interested in having a long-term look on the subject, through the cultural diversity of the countries involved in the project.

During the project, teachers and students attended six very interesting meetings (in Vall d 'Alba - Spain, preliminary meeting to form the framework of the program, in Nun Eaton - Great Britain, student logo contest and display of traditional costumes, in Milanowek - Poland, on the attire of people in power, in Vibo Valentia - Italy, concerning fashion subcultures and the changes in the clothing of each country through centuries, as well as in our country, Greece, dealing with fashion in sports and in wedding ceremonies and in Turkey showing how traditional dances and costumes are related.

Co-operating with other schools in order to produce educational material and attending meetings in different countries have enabled us to understand better the educational system and culture of our other partners but mainly to enjoy ourselves, to create bonds of friendship among us and to develop an even stronger European consciousness.
